THE HEALTH CARE JOURNEY: ALMOST DONE

Did you know that me and my co-workers only have approximately 2 weeks until the entire program shuts down for a while? It came as a shock to me as well, but to be honest this has to have been one of the most challenging predicaments that I have ever taken part in. Then again I never expected it to be easy at all, before this particular program I did not know very much information about health care. For example, there is a health insurance crisis going on in America until now. There are people who receive health insurance through their job and now more and more businesses are starting to not offer health insurance to their employees, which leaves the employees left uninsured. Here's another interesting thing about the health care field, more job opportunities are opening up around America. I will keep you up to date on these last two weeks that are winding down!!!!

The Health Care Journey Part 3

Finishing from where I left off alot of new things are happening. For example, you may or may not have heard about medical scrubs that most health care workers wear. Well now me and the rest of my co-workers have received MEDICAL SCRUBS like the doctors, and I always thought they would be extremely tight. It turns out there actually pretty comfortable, if you choose the right size and our particular scrubs say PACKARD HEALTH and are a real light blue kind of color. Well besides all of that everyone in my internship, was blessed with the opportunity to go to the University of Michigan Critical Research Unit. There we learned about Wilsons disease, which is when someone has too much copper in there body. This leads to a small brownish color around your eye, also we happened to take a tour of the facility. The facility looks enormous when you are walking in it, but once you walk outside the door you notice that it is not as big as you thought. There are many other trips we have in store, so as soon as those are conducted. I will keep you Posted!!!

DAY 2: The Health Care Journey continues

The second week felt a lot more like your basic trainee course. I learned about the Packard Pacers and their walking group at Packard Health, which only cost about five dollars. Also I happened to learn about some of the different kind of machines and medicines that diabetics use. Do you know what the A1c test is? If you don't know it is, it's a test that every diabetic has to take about every three months. I happened to find out that my blood sugar level is 114, if it was over 200 then I would be considered to have diabetes. Another thing I happened to be apart of is, learning about the website needymeds.com. Needymeds.com is basically a website that has almost every medicine company on file, and Packard Health uses this particular site to get certain kinds of medicines for patients. Also this specific site contains online applications from companys for patients and medical staff to fill out. This is only the tip of the iceberg, so I can't wait to see what happens next!!
